Craft: Leaf Art Beetles
In this episode, we learned about some fascinating beetle survival skills. Did you know beetles can be quite beautiful? We thought it would be fun to design our own beautiful beetles using nature items you collect from outside. This eco-friendly leaf art craft is a wonderful fall activity to try when all the leaves are changing colors.

Materials:
- fallen leaves, twigs, grasses or petals in assorted shapes & sizes
- recycled, heavy corrugated cardboard cut into rectangles
- glue or mod-podge
- paint brush
Wow-To:
Step 1: Take a nature walk and gather fallen leaves, twigs, grasses, petals or whatever else you can find that might help you make a beetle.
Step 2: Using a piece of cardboard as a mat, see what type of beetle you can design with the natural materials you’ve collected. Remember to include the body, legs, wings if you like and antennae.
Step 3: Once you’ve finalized your design, remove each item one at a time and glue them down.
Step 4: Once all the individual parts are glued down, paint over the entire beetle with glue or mod-podge which will gave them a nice glossy, protective coat that will preserve it from crumbling and drying out right away.
Step 4: Let it air dry and then proudly display it!
