Craft: DIY Magnify

A simple way to make a magnifying glass at home using water and a plastic bottle.

Materials: 

• Plastic 2-liter bottle
• A permanent marker
• Sharp Scissors
• Water

Wow-To: 

1. Draw a circle on the smooth, curved body part of the bottle.
2. With a grown-up’s help, cut the circle out. Tip: When you’re done, the cut-out should be concave (that means curving inward).
3. Fill the cut-out half-way full with water.
4. This is your magnifying glass! Use it to look at nearby objects close up. What do you notice now that you have a closer look?
